Thing 5

Wow!  I have a flickr account, but I never realized you could make stuff from your pictures on there.  Oh, the possibilities!

Well, I found a picture of the church where I got married almost 16 years ago. It was built by Norwegian settlers outside of Cranfills Gap, Texas. It was a cold, windy day and the only heat in the building was from an old wood stove and my bridesmaids were wearing sleeveless dresses. The photo was taken by Essentialarity, who wrote that his great great grandfather helped build the church. Although I grew up near there, I did not recognize the fellow.

I do use Flickr. Obviously regarding pictures I take, I can decide which ones I would be willing to have on the front page of every newspaper in the world. Those that I am unwilling to share in that fashion will never be posted by me. However, it does bother me that other people can take pictures of me that can be manipulated and misconstrued and that I would essentially have no recourse. I realize that this is not likely to happen; however, the possibility does exist. As they say, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean that they’re not out to get you. As a librarian, I would use Flickr to publicize events and create awareness of collections. I would also ensure that every attendance sheet for events had a photo release included, with a place for the parent/guardian’s signature for minor attendees.
